Meet The Trustees
The Village is governed by a Village President and a Board of six Trustees (also known as "Village Board"). The President and Trustees are elected at large to 4-year terms (overlapping terms for Trustees). The Village President also appoints the Village Comptroller and the Village Clerk. The Board is the legislative department of the Village. The Trustees are responsible for conducting the Village business. They have a fiduciary responsibility to protect and serve the community and to ensure that our tax monies are spent in a fiscally responsible manner. They are elected for four-year terms, and will have Board and Committee responsibilities.
During an election year, a notice will be posted in the Trout Valley Newsletter and Website, asking residents who are interested in running for either a Village Trustee or the Village President’s position to contact the Village Clerk for the required forms and instructions. All filings (Petition for Nomination, Statement of Candidacy, Stmt. of Economic Interest, etc.) are typically due in December and the elections are held in April the following year. Due to overlapping terms, at least three Trustee positions are available during each election year, each with a four-year term.
