PREVENTION OF CHRONIC WASTING DISEASE IN TROUT VALLEY’S DEER POPULATION
The Village of Trout Valley is cooperating with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in controlling the spread of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in our local deer population. CWD is spread when deer congregate in a relatively small area to feed. Therefore, in accordance with the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources Administrative Regulation Title 17 Section 635.40, which prohibits the feeding of deer, the Village of Trout Valley seeks the full compliance with this regulation by all residents. In addition to CWD, deer host ticks and these ticks then breed in Trout Valley residents’ gardens. Ticks are known to carry Lyme disease that can infect humans.
